(Before It's News)

A pit bull attacked and killed a man attempting to give CPR to its owner in West Virgina. East Wheeling police officers said they were forced to push their way into the home and then found the pit bull next to one unconscious person and the badly injured man.

West Virginia police Lieutenant Phil Redford said local authorities currently believe that the owner of the pit bull had a heart attack and the unidentified man killed during the attack, graciously attempted to offer life-saving aid. Both of the individuals were ultimately pronounced dead a short time later at an East Wheeling hospital.

  • Should have taken the pit to CPR class
    not the dogs fault

    • Exactly. The act of performing CPR would have placed the good Samaritan in a position “over” (a place of dominance) the owner. When performed correctly it also is a bit ‘violent’ in nature, and would have appeared as an attack to the dog. The animal was only doing his job.

HOWEVER,… responders have to be careful to check their environment and secure animals that may be a risk to their safety before performing these tasks.
