The time to place your order for the 2015 Bird of the Year Limited Edition T-shirt featuring the Green Heron and designed by Paul Riss and Rachel Riorden of PRBY Apparel is coming to a close. In fact, you only have until TOMORROW July 19 to place an order! So don’t delay! Get one here!
In the realm of unexpected photos of our bird of the year, Ryan Shaw of of northern Illinois found the following bird on the Fermilab campus during his lunch break. It’s evidently a leucistic or some such pigment-challenged Green Heron, but a striking bird in any case. It’s certainly perhaps the most remarkable Green Heron I’ve ever seen.
For more great photos of our Bird of the Year, see the article A Biologist’s Love Affair with Buteroides virescens, from the most recent issue of Birding magazine, but available for free here.
