The ABA has a full schedule of events for 2017, consisting of opportunities to bird with ABA Staff and friends both close to our headquarters in Delaware and farther afield.

Join the ABA for a Delaware Shorebird Spectacular in May 2017! The month of May along the Delaware Bayshore brings enormous numbers of horseshoe crabs along the beach to lay millions of eggs, which in turn attracts hundreds of thousands of migrating shorebirds to feast upon those eggs prior to their last 3000 mile non-stop flight to their breeding grounds. This evolutionary spectacle has to be seen to be believed so join us in Lewes, Delaware, this spring!

We’re also heading to Honduras and beautiful Pico Bonito Lodge and scenic Lake Yojoa. This Birders’ Exchange Rally in December 2017 offers the unique opportunity to meet and bird with people who are making a positive difference for the local birds and birding community–the very birders and conservationists BEX was created to support! Birders’ Exchange participants in the ABA Area have made a positive difference for the birds and people of Honduras, and rally participants will be able to enjoy the satisfaction of aiding those efforts while they are enjoying some spectacular Neotropical birding.

The ABA is once again partnering with Rockjumper Tours in 2018 for a Birding and Big Game Safari in Tanzania in March and April, featuring opportunities to experience the spectacular Maasai Maraa and Ngorogoro Crater. This part of Africa is widely acknowledged as offering one of the world’s most spectacular natural history experiences and we can’t wait to share it with you.

If you are looking for experiences in our own front yard, the ABA is once again hosting a series of sunset cruises to Pea Patch Island this spring and summer. Pea Patch Island hosts one of the largest rookeries of wading birds on the east coast, and the sight of hundreds of herons, egrets, and ibis returning to roost as the sun sets is spectacular.
