I’m replacing sold art with smaller work this week for the Thousand Oaks Artwalk. The show is open from 10 to 5pm Saturday & Sunday, so if you’re in the area, swing by and say hello. Booth 43.
One of the lovely and surprising converges of blogging and art festivals is meeting folks I only know online, from blogging or my Etsy shop, or email exchanges. Over the past 8-9 years, so many kind folks have walked into my booth and introduced themselves as an email address, and Etsy shop name or a blog title, so I could make the connection between who I know, and the face I haven’t met yet. It’s always exciting, especially if we follow each other’s work via social media, but meeting face to face is ice cream-on-pie of the relationship.
Art festivals are a wonderful for lots of reasons. Its a direct way to get feedback on your art from the buying public, and the opportunity to meet and trade resources & ideas with other artists on everything from business/marketing practices to frame supplies over a weekend is great fodder to carry back to the studio. But the one of the perks I never anticipated was meeting my online friends, so thank you to each & every good heart out there in the ether of the internet for hiking across parks and lots and boardwalks to introduce yourselves in person. It’s a real pleasure to have met you, face to face.
