HELLO FRIENDS THIS IS LISA MATON WITH IMAGINEBROADCASTING.NET

WELCOME TO MY SHOW I B.  THE THEME OF TODAYS SHOW IS

I B DREAMING OF CHANGE

The United States has been called the “Greatest Nation on Earth” – but is that still true?

The Oxford dictionary defines the American Dream as:

The ideal that every U.S. Citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination and initiative.

My friends, everyone has a dream, and each dream is as unique as you are.

Look around you! Dreams are everywhere! From the tiny caps on your shoe laces to buildings so tall they seem to reach the clouds. Think about that, everything…everything around you right now as  you’re hearing my voice started as someone’s dream.

Now What do we all have in common when it comes to our dreams?  We want them to come true!    One of the greatest writers of the early 1900′s,  W.B Yeats, wrote “I have spread my dreams under your feet, Tread softly because you tread upon my dreams”.

Everything Man has created started with a dream.

There is a movie I consider not only appropriate for todays show but a must see for those who have not.

The movie is called “Tucker, The Man and His Dream”.  It came out in 1988, and stars Jeff Bridges, Joan Allen and Martin Landau, and was directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

The movie is about Preston Tucker, a very innovative and creative genius, who grew up near Detroit.  He worked in various auto related industries until one day during the 1940s he had a dream of building his own car.  It was a car most people considered way ahead of its time due to its safety features and sleek design.  Tucker faced many challenges as an entrepreneur, many of which came from those seeking to destroy his dream.   What Tucker faced in the 1940s is still going on today but on a much larger and grander scale. Here is a clip from the movie.

After two years of battles in court, Preston Tucker emerged with a legal victory.  But the damage was done.  Financially ruined, emotionally drained, Preston Tucker past away in 1956 from lung cancer; but in my opinion, he died six years earlier from a broken heart because of what his beloved country had become and what it tried to do to him.

Big Business has grown to the point it can and will crush the next Phoenix before it has a chance to rise.  One of the most effective ways this is done, is by controlling the career politicians in Washington.

Think about it.  They control who gets licenses, and who does not; which patents are approved and which are rejected, who can conduct business, and who cannot.

The debate of whether America is still the ‘Greatest Nation on Earth’ was a topic on the HBO series, ‘The Newsroom’ a few years ago.  Actor Jeff Daniels, in the role of news anchor Will McEvoy, was pushed into answering why America is the greatest nation on earth.  His answer was as brutally honest as it was thought-provoking.

According to the 2014 census, there are almost 319 million people in the United States.  Including the President, there are 536 people who are elected to represent those millions of people.  But who do they represent?  That’s the real question, isn’t it?

National estimates put the number of Lobbyists that represent Big Business and other special interests at as many as 15,000.  Friends, that’s almost 28 lobbyists PER ELECTED OFFICIAL in Washington!    The amount of money spent by the lobbyists is estimated to be as high as 12.5 million dollars per representative, every year!  Is there any wonder that laws passed today by our elected officials have little to do with WE the people, and everything to do with We the BIG business?

There is a war that goes on every day in the Unites States. No guns are fired, no troops deployed, and tanks do not roll down our streets. BUT there are indeed casualties in this war every time ink is put to paper and with it our freedoms continue to diminish.

I’m certain you, yourself either remembers school or is currently attending one.  Have you ever wondered what our country wants our educational system to actually accomplish? Is it truly to cultivate critical thinking, inspire to greatness and prepare you to reach for the stars? Or has it been determined by those in power, who want to keep that power for themselves that the best way to create the workforce of tomorrow is to indoctrinate?

Just think of what the educational system of today continues to remove on a daily basis all under the guise of budget cuts. No more music, art, drama, sports or anything else that would inspire creativity, passion, or the ability to set ones self apart from the herd. The educational system of today is a means to create singular thinking, non-distinguishable drones to do their bidding without question.

I believe one of the biggest shortcomings in todays school system is the complete removal of competition at every level. You may wonder why removing competition can be so damaging.  Friends, by removing competition you remove the motivation to push oneself to reach and strive to be better than you are right now and replacing it with a collective identity in which mediocrity is the norm and setting yourself apart by being successful is frowned upon.

You may remember comedian George Carlin.  He entertained millions with a career spanning five decades.  Carlin had three basic themes throughout his career.  The English Language, observational humor and social commentary. As time passed and the world changed so did Carlin’s comedy; in his later years, he became more cynical in his monologues on social commentary, with good reason.

George Carlin sadly passed away in June of 2008.  Wonder what he would say about the World today! Actually I do know what he would say.. The world sucks!

Never take my word or anyone else’s words as GospelThere has never been a time in history where information is so readily and easily available if you are just willing to look for it.  I urge you to question everything.  Always.  Do your own research, Always!  Accept nothing at face value.

You can no longer sit idly by and accept the mainstream media as honest and factual.  Take the time to always seek the truth and form your OWN opinions based on what YOU find – not what “they” tell you.

It only takes one person to change the world.

Yes, it all starts with just one individual.  One person who went against the grain and created changeLook at human history.  How many times did one person stand up and say “we can do better?” Who came to mind first for you?  The founding fathers? Jesus of Nazareth?  Gandhi? Einstein?  And who hasn’t heard of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who proclaimed to everyone for all time “I HAVE A DREAM”?

These are just a few of the people in history who stood up when they were told to sit down, and demanded to be heard when commanded by others to be silent.  They made sure their voices and ideas were heard even with all odds stacked against them.  It is not violence that changes the world for the better but the voice of individuals who proclaim the truth when others fail to see it.

One of the ways that the world hears the voice of others is through music.  Millions listen but often miss the true message.

There is one musician close to my heart that continues to inspire me every day. Many people believe he is one of the few who changed music forever.  For me, this is one of the most inspiring songs of all time.  Please, don’t just hear the song.  Listen to what he’s saying.  Here is “Imagine” from John Lennon

John Lennon was assassinated on December 8th 1980 outside of his residence in New York. I refuse to name the person responsible out of respect for John Lennon. If this confuses you my friends, do a little research and you will see why.

Did you hear this song or truly listen to it? Are you one of those people who thinks the song is telling you to give everything away and spirituality is a bad thing? If so you may have missed the true message of the song.

He’s encouraging you to live each and every day without the constant overseeing and control by others. When one person takes a stand for something that is right, that’s when others will band together and follow.

It all starts with one person imagining how they can make things better. When you to sleep at night and dream of a better world, you start to see what you feel needs to be changed.  Dreams lead to ideas, ideas lead to innovation, innovation leads to progress, and progress leads to change. Ask yourself one question – If you could do one thing to make the world a better place, what would it be? How could you accomplish it?

Dreams are not make believe fairy tales.  They are messages from our hearts showing us the way. Never take your dreams for granted.  Never give up on them.  May all of you be inspired to do your part to once again make this the greatest country in the world.
