Anonymous seems to be more of an idea than a group. It is represented by activists who like to wear Guy Fawkes masks, and protest. But there are people behind the masks. VICE attempts to bring a few of these people to light in this exciting documentary.
In the following video you will see about how the members of anonymous battle governments and corporations, and how they are brought down from the inside by one of their own. Jeremy Hammond, the legendary hacker who broke into the Stratfor database is turned in by one of his own, named Sabu. After Hammond is arrested however, Sabu goes against the FBI and turns over the documents Hammond got from Stratfor over to Julian Assange from Wikileaks.
It is important to note that just because these hackers have claimed to be anonymous, does not mean that to be in anonymous you must be a hacker. There are thousands of ways to protest and represent the ideas of liberty, without doing illegal things using a computer. This documentary is very interesting, however I believe it gives only one view of what anonymous represents. Anonymous has certainly inspired millions of supporters of liberty, most into legal protest.
That being said it is clear that corporations and especially the government have attempted to put a stranglehold on the individual. This is simply a way that people are lashing out after being pushed down for too long. How do you feel about the ongoing CyberWar?
