This 157 meter high building named “Ring of Life” cost around a hundred million RMB ($16 million USD) and used 3,000 tons of steel, but is it really a piece of architecture or are China expecting some visitors? As always you decide.

CRIENGLISH.com reports an internet user recently posted a photo of a unique building in Fushun, northeast China’s Liaoning Province on Sina Weibo, China’s largest microblog platform. The structure looks like an enormous iron ring and is called “Ring of Life.”

The huge ring uses 3,000 tons of steel and is 157 meters in diameter. Decorated by 12,000 LED lights, the landmark building looks splendid and like a time machine, according to a china.com.cn report.

The name “Ring of Life” means a round sky and a path leading to a paradise in heaven, said an article on the official website of the Fushun Municipal Government.

In response to some critics who say the building is not practical, Xia Hongjun, a senior local official in Fushun, said “Ring of Life” is designed as landscape architecture and four elevators will be installed for sightseeing.

Officials with the Urban Construction Bureau of Fushun explained they gave up on creating entertainment projects because the local population is too small. Thus, the landmark building is only for sightseeing.

  • Wow, that is fantastic looking! Whether a stargate or not, only time will tell. But it’s awesome no matter what.

    • no idiot.. not ONLY time will tell…
yeah… totally awsome.. to people who have never seen circles before maybe.

  • A Chinese village thought that a dildo was a magical mushroom several months back.

  • Anonymous

    Has China Built A Stargate?
    No.

  • A seed idea is a aggressive MEME, a MEME that seeks to take possession of a mind. If an idea is self-unfolding, it requires little external validity, because the idea is ment to be hidden to begin with. Memes are the same as thoughts? Thoughts would limit memes to conscious ideas. A meme is anything a mind replicates, from a song to the notion that Ford puts quality first, but it could also be a gesture or even seen in shifting proclivities. Memenetics is the study of memes as living organisms, primarily by applying the law of genetics to ideas. In genetics, it is reconized that isolation breeds mutation. Now add entrainment…..I’m a very intelligent person…The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and
put it back in your pocket.

  • Reminds me of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Funny how no one attributes woo-woo powers to that artifact.

  • It is beautiful!

  • There must be some holycrap stargate fans in China?

  • It’s MADE IN CHINA

    it will need regular maintenance

  • They should spend there trillions on clean air and the planetminstead of this crap. Their people suffer and live/eat rats.

    • Do you go to buy things at Walmart? …… so you support the Chinese Economy and thanks to you and others, they can afford to build such monument. The U.S.A. does build the twin Towers and the Statue of Liberty which is becoming a grotesque joke, with an even bigger group of people out of work that go dumpster diving.
The Day of dining on Rats are gone for the Chinese People, they are all having Jobs enjoying their economic growth thanks to our support…… a but hey I hear this delicious Meal is coming to America soon, perhaps served by Mc Donalds?

      • Actually the French built the statue of liberty…

      • French build statue of liberty.

and china got so much more money than us your quite foolish to think u.s support china when hong kong has more money than china and support china and china exports to every county in world and in last two weeks requested 130 billion back from u.s that they lent them to balance their budget 4 years ago

  • A Stargate?!

Do I foresee another TV series spinoff?

    “STARGATE CHINA”

  • Chinese like doing Big things … If its a Stargate … U guys reckon … they have a secondary ring that can dial co-ordinates… doesn’t look like the whole gate can SPIN… Unless Chinese have become so Good in High Tech …that they can upgrade the secondary ring to be able to dial from a touchscreen Ainol tablet… … Ring of life is to attract tourist maybe… Looks Good ,Fantastic , unusual , somewhat misleading as well… By misleading I mean… Look at it… Now so many people are talking about it… Assuming its Stargate & cuz of its unusual name…The Ring Of Life… Bungie Jumping will be Excellent though…So me reckon it’s not actually a functioning Stargate or it will ever B …China’s tech might be good, but it’s not that good… When U will be able to buy UR own Stargate escape for 99.99 $$$ at Wal-mart than only …China’s High tech has come up with a Winner … Chinese have boldly gone where no man has ever gone before… … Till then … Lets consider it as a Tourist attraction Promotion …

  • Anonymous you still asleep. Is ok you will wake up soon or in another life time..

  • Is this really any different than the huge arch in St Louis?

    • Only in that it’s oval and that the arch isn’t built with Twin Towers steel.

  • What’s strange about this story is that this stargate looks just like the real stargate discovered by the israeli army near the egyptian border in 1984. thin on top and thicker on the lower part.
Same shape, probably the same function too.
The only difference is that the original stargate is much smaller, only 11 meters in diameter.
    This one can transfer motherships.

  • No its just the worlds largest Dyson fan to get rid the smog.

  • It might be a little tight, but I think I’ve finally found suitable cock ring.

  • What land something through that -what about collateral damage to those buildings ? Why wouldn’t you put it in the middle of a desert or near a hydro dam for power ,where only satellites can see it ?
