(N.Morgan) A strange and intriguing phenomenon has been occurring at Lake Michigan near Glen Arbor, ice balls are washing up onto the shores and no one is sure why this is happening or what the exact cause is. This incredible sight can be seen on the video below.
The “official” explanation: The balls, or boulders, as some have called them, are formed when water from the lake begins to freeze and is pushed ashore by wave action, according to AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Jim Andrews.
