Robots That Work Like Termites!! (Cool Video)

(N.Morgan) This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. Researchers at Harvard constructed these robots, based on African termites. A Robot termite construction team! The swarm intelligence of the termites is the result of a mechanism called Stigmergy: Each termite detects a chemical residue left by other termites and each then follows the instructions for the next steps of the construction. The robot is about 8 by 4.5 inches, have gear-like wheels, equip with different sensors (accelerometer, ultrasound, and infrared), and have a wide range of maneuvers.
