While alternative media is doing a service by getting eyeballs and ears to the stories that are being ignored by the mainstream press, there is a weakness.
That weakness is the unprofessionalism.
It may be fun and creative to have 30 seconds of lead-in music and graphics, or loud music playing in the background of a news report, or ghoulish images flashing behind members of the cabal, but the fact is, if you want to reach a larger audience you need to be professional.
Even I turn off such reports and go look for similar news presented in a more professional way. If the alternative media wants to have credibility with those who have yet to believe that there is a conspiracy, that the markets are controlled, that central banking has wrecked havoc around the world, that Obama’s birth certificate is phoney, or any number of other related topics, it needs to be presented in a professional way.
Another thought is this…break up your videos. Remember, not everyone is out of work, broke, and on welfare with unlimited time to watch videos. Break those videos up into shorter segments…5 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes. Label each segment clearly as to the point that is being made. That way, people are more likely to pick up one particular clip and share it. Who wants to dump one and one half hour videos on their friends all the time?
The fact of the matter is, it may be easier to simply upload an hour and a half video, or a two hour and fifteen minute video, but it is also a bit lazy. Do some effort and make bite-sized chunks of information that people can listen to on a break or at lunch. Someone can take in a 3-5 minute video link they receive on Twitter during a break at work. That same person does not have time to listen to an hour and a half video.
I personally still like the written word. You can read it faster than you can listent to it. You can readily review it and find information easily. Try doing that with an hour and a half video, it just isn’t possible.
If you have to play with creativity and add all the music, if you are compelled to do that, if you are compelled to add the ghoulish graphics, then realize your insistence on doing that may be cutting off people you want to reach with the message.
Make yourself presentable to all audiences. Make it professional. Remember, first impressions are everything. I don’t mean you have to dress in a suit and tie. But don’t look like a 13-year old playing with video graphics.
