From SoulScience-Awakening You
The possibility that the reality we experience is merely projected from some horizon of the universe, a hologram, is difficult to accept for many. This is so because we consider ourselves real beings and we perceive that our world has an immediate and autonomous existence. It is difficult to imagine that the bowl of Krispies you had for breakfast was due to something that happened at the cosmic event horizon! And yet, one of the most plausible explanations to solve the main problems of physics, reconcile the theory relativity with quantum mechanics along with the string theory, is a theory known as the Holographic Principle.
A hologram, like those found on credit cards or banknotes, are simple, two-dimensional plastic films. However, when light reflects off of them, an illusion of a 3D image is created. In the beginning of the 1990s, Leonard Susskind and Gerard t’ Hooft proposed that the same principle could be applied to the entire universe. That our daily three-dimensional experience in itself could be a holographic projection of something that is happening on a distant two-dimensional surface.
This idea of Hooft and Susskind originated with Stephen Hawking’s discovery of the eponymous Hawking radiation. The theory asserts that blackholes, unlike previously believed, don’t suck in everything due to the intense gravitational fields.
