Fitz and the Tantrums is a group whose sound is as large and eccentric as their name. Fresh off the heels of their debut album, Pickin’ Up The Pieces, Michael Fitzpatrick, Noelle Scaggs, James King, Joseph Karnes, Jeremy Ruzumna and John Wicks are back at it again with another installment of what is sure to be some great music. Some of my favorite tracks on the CD were “Money Grabber” (which you can check out below), “Pickin’ Up The Pieces” and “L.O.V.” Their new CD, More Than Just A Dream, is set to be released on May 7, 2013. But you can pre-order their CD now (and get a freedownload of the single “Out of My League”) on their website,www.fitzandthetantrums.com.
Their sound is part Soul, part Rock, part Pop and a hint of vintage quirkiness. Their music is amazing and I got a chance to listen to their first single, “Out of My League”, last week. The upbeat, mesmerizing melody of “Out of My League” makes the song perfect for a backdrop to a GAP commercial. But it’s not cheesy by any means. It speaks about a relationship or person that seems untouchable. In the event of any possibility that this may be a dream, they don’t want to wake up. Michael Fitzpatrick takes the lead on this track and the group exudes a stronger force and confidence than previously displayed on Pickin’ Up The Pieces.
