EAGLE POINT, OR — A man received 9 misdemeanors and was sentenced to 30 days in jail for collecting rainwater on his massive property and forming 3 ponds. The ponds were being used for fishing and as a place to store water in case of forest fires. The state of Oregon did not approve, because the man had not groveled for permission, paid fees, and shuffled paperwork like a good subject would. Besides his month in jail, he was fined and ordered to drain the ponds. Property rights are a myth at this point. You can’t even go live in the wilderness without the Nanny State bossing you around on your own property.
