A vial containing a potentially harmful virus has gone missing from a laboratory at the University of Texas Medical Branch, officials said.

During a routine internal inspection last week, UTMB officials realized one vial of a virus called Guanarito was not accounted for at the facility. MORE HERE
Homeland Security sold it to the terrorists!
oh well, it’s just another day in the life. i know my memory is not the greatest, but didn’t something similar to this happen last year in another poorly equipped lab? i googled that but found nothing. any of you people remember that story? it just seems so familiar. strange. maybe it was a lab was robbed of a deadly chemical? i dunno.
We will know soon enough. They are pulling out all stops now. Have I mentioned that you should GET THE HELL OUT OF AMERICA. If you value your life that is.
This doesn’t matter, even if real, which I seriously doubt. Because, guanarito is an arenavirus which requires contact with rodents and rodent urine to be acquired by humans. After that, human – human transmission is VERY inefficient. Therefore, epidemics almost never occur.
Looks like those pesky ubiquitous terrorists stole the wrong vial
But, it sure is a good report for fearmongering, because most people don’t understand the details.
