The biggest sand storm for the last 13 years descended on Beijing late on April 15. The sky went dark within a few minutes, and the city was covered in sand before people realized that the storm had arrived.

Weibo bloggers joked about the dramatic weather to make light of the situation, and shared photos taken on their way home.
Some users added monsters into their photos to make them look like scenes from Ultraman, Godzilla, or Pacific Rim.

The people who were probably worst affected by the sandstorm are the cleaners of “Big Pants,” the nickname of the state-run CCTV building due to its ridiculous shape.
According to Ifeng News, CCTV recently spent about $80,000 on a large-scale cleaning of the whole building for the first time. However, the sand storm just made the project a complete waste of money and effort.
