According to one measurement, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton makes more money than the top 10 CEOs in the United States. This revelation comes less than one week after the former secretary of state bemoaned the wage gap in America.
During a campaign speech at an Iowa community college last week, the former first lady bemoaned the fact that, “the average CEO makes about 300 times what the average worker makes.”
But data compiled by reporter Mark Tapscott shows that money earned by Clinton is on par–if not exceeding–the cream of the crop of America’s top CEOs. Tapscott calculated Clinton’s speaking fee on an hourly, daily, and weekly basis.
Before announcing her candidacy for president, Clinton charged $300,000 per speech. Assuming it’s an hourly pay over a 24-hour day, that comes out to $300,000 hourly for an annual pay of $624,000,000, edging out McKesson CEO John Hammergren–who makes $63,077 per hour and $131,200,000 per year.
Next is clothing designer Ralph Lauren, who makes $32,067 hourly and has an annual pay of $66,700,000 based on a 24-hour day.

But if you slice the pie on a ‘per day’ basis, Hammergren edges out the former secretary of state. While Clinton made $300,000 daily for her speeches and a calculated total of $78,000,000 per year, Hammergren makes $504,615 and receives an annual pay of $131,200,000–though the former first lady still overtook every other CEO on the list.

Calculating the pay in terms of a week, Hammergren beats out Clinton again. That is not to say the Democratic candidate does not make a heavy chunk of change, however. Clinton makes $300,000 weekly for an annual pay of $15,600,000. Hammergren, according to this measure, makes $2,523,077 weekly, adding up to an annual pay of $131,200,000. Clinton does not show up in the top ten by this metric.
