Watch: Principal Diagnosed With Cancer, So Senior Class Made An Incredible Sacrifice
A New Hampshire high school principal received a very generous gift from her senior class after recently being diagnosed with cancer.

Courtney Vashaw of Profile Junior-Senior High School in Bethlehem, N.H., was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of cancer last week, WMUR reported. The senior class responded by giving her all of the money they had raised for their trip, approximately $8,000, to help with her treatment.
The class was planning an overnight trip to the Adirondacks.
“We decided to not go on our senior class trip this year and donate all of our funds to your cause,” class treasurer Ian Baker told Vashaw in front of classmates.
“It is very hard for me to accept help, and I have no idea what to say to you,” Vashaw responded.
Once news of the cancer broke out, the class wanted to help Vashaw after they learned from her the values of compassion and charity during their high school years. The class voted unanimously to forego the trip and donate the money to their principal. “She’s just very caring, very selfless, and we wanted to be selfless too,” Baker said.
“Every one of us has a connection with her, and she has given so much to us that we just wanted to give back,” class president Christopher Sirois told WMUR.
“She is one of the strongest, most determined women I know and if it can happen to her, you know anything can happen to anyone,” added senior Hunter Leighton.
Vashaw lauded the class for their charisma and generosity. “They are [a] pretty remarkable, fun, astonishing group of people,” she said.
The class will still go on a trip, but it will be a local affair instead of an oversight excursion as previously planned.
