When Taylor Wright, known by the nickname “Lil Bit” to viewers of CMT’s reality series Party Down South, shared a personal photo on her Facebook page, a few media critics were quick to focus on one particular item in the background.
Many of the social media comments focused more on the plight of this new father; however, some media outlets opted to spotlight a handgun by the bed.
She responded to the backlash, however, with a firm support of her right to defend her family.
“By God I will unload on somebody if they break in and try to hurt me or my family,” she told TMZ.
Acknowledging she does not keep her gun locked up, Wright said it does remain in safety mode. As for her one-month-old baby’s potential access to the weapon, she explained that it is still pretty early to start worrying about that.
She said the couple will make sure any weapons are hidden and stored out of reach well before their first child is able to grab them.
The conversation continued on Wright’s Twitter profile as she shared supportive comments and chronicled the subsequent developments.
She let her Instagram followers know – via a behind-the-scenes video clip – that she would be appearing on Fox to discuss the issue Friday.
