(Before It's News)

Tempers flared when Gasland documentary filmmaker Josh Fox and Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney went head to head over the controversial topic of fracking.

Varney quoted the Environmental Protection Agency’s recently released report on fracking. Varney stated that the EPA did not find any evidence “that these mechanisms have led to widespread systemic impacts on drinking water.”

Fox claimed that after the publication of said report, the EPA issued “somewhat” of a retraction because the report was misleading. He also stated that there was in fact damning evidence that in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Colorado, where fracking has been done, there was contaminated water.

Fox stated that “fracking contaminates groundwater.” He claimed that the EPA has issued reports; however, the Obama administration has “slapped on” a press release stating that there was “nothing really to see.”

Fox went on to claim that the Obama administration, which has publicly taken a stance against fracking, actually supports it. Fox told Varney that the investigations into fracking and its harmful effects on water were requested by Congress and private citizens. Fox claimed that the Obama administration has actually reduced the number of reports and investigations being done. He further stated that the EPA was under incredible influence by the gas and oil industries.

The process of fracking involves the injection of liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks, boreholes, etc., so as to force open existing fissures and to extract oils or gases.

Fox told viewers that Varney had confided in him during a break that he would not support fracking on his own property in upstate New York. The question Fox posed to Varney was: “Why would you not frack on your own property and then prescribe it for other people in America?”

At this point, the interview became heated. Fox accused Varney of being a liar, the interview came to a screeching halt, and Fox was promptly kicked off the show. As Fox was being tuned out, he could be heard saying to Varney: “If you said to me earlier that you would not want fracking in your own neighborhood, it’s irresponsible for you to say on air that the rest of America should frack.”

  • That’s just disgusting! You do not have to go far to find that evidence!

    •  Now BIN is bringing me Fox News thought this was an Alternative Media Outlet

      • Lyn Leach, I just LOVE the way you have done your hair!
        How attractive!

And, you are so smart, also!

  • I don’t know why they argued there at thew end, you could light water from taps on fire long before fracking. Gas plants contaminate entire surrounding areas, so if you live by one of them its possible. I saw videos 20 years ago about people on farms being able to light their well water on fire b/c they were close to a refinery.

    • any points you make are somewhat invalidated by your choice of screen name. what are you, a 13 year old boy? grow up.

      • With all due respect, TLS, for a Clucker like myself his screen name actually validates his points.

    • so have i seen them

  • Cheaper energy is fine….but it doesn’t take a college degree to know that pumping millions of gallons of chemical contaminates into the ground that it will find ots way into our drinking water. The fact that BEFORE fracking people could ignite their water at the tap tells you that these oil and gas deposits are most definitly and demonstratably so CONNECTED to our aquifers. Pumpimg MORE chemical contaminates into the ground CANNOT make our water healthier….thats just FACT.

    • Sorry, but it does take a college degree to understand the subject matter in detail or at least the ability to solve a middle school algebra problem. Virtually all comments on the subject matter submitted by laymen contain a massive demonstration of ignorance. That’s the reason that a fool with an agenda can make a movie knowing nothing about the subject matter and have it accepted as fact when its premises would require a complete rewrite of physics established over the past 200 years.

  • Why is it that when someone has years of research and tries to reach out to millions of viewers they always get stopped. I wanted to hear his data and research findings. :/

    • It’s called ‘money’, honey.

  • yes you’re right. fracking is torture unto death , poisoning of men women children pets birds livestock unto death i know but you called me a liar thats it let them all die for calling me a liar. Do you not know that i am god and i will not be spoken to like that. yes i am god, can’t you tell by my demeanour , are you blind, just look at me, and my accent gives it away as well   dumb american, puting fracking dangers ahead of my great and magnificently displayed for all the world to see ego. get out! get out! get out!

  • Frack you.

  • Take that reporter and slap him like a bth everytime he lies!..Then put him back on TV looking like he knows something
