7-year old Aiden Wright of Salem, Massachusetts, was recently on a playground when he noticed a checkbook lying next to the slide.
He picked it up and discovered that it had a whopping $8,000 in it.
Rather than keep it to himself, Aiden promptly handed it over to his uncle.
Aiden and his uncle, Danny Wright, handed the checkbook and money over to the Salem Police Department, which was able to locate the owner.
The owner, Elias Santos, said: “I was so grateful, you know, because we don’t have people like this no more.” He then gave Aiden $100 for his honesty.
The Good Morning America anchors took delight in the situation.
“He gave the young boy $100 for his honesty,” Amy Robach said.
Lara Spencer said: “That’s very kind!”
Robin Roberts stated: “Honesty does pay out!”
Viewers praised Aiden on the WBZ-TV Facebook page. One said: “Way to go kiddo!” Another added: “Someone raised this little gentleman right!”
