Why I Refuse To Condemn Josh Duggar

(Before It's News)

I read a sanctimonious article yesterday which was written by a “Christian” writer condemning Josh Duggar. His argument was based on two things.

1. He defended Josh the first time around, and
2. Josh did not take advantage of that opportunity to come clean.

While I agree that it would have been ideal if he had confessed all of his sins, I do not condemn him for not doing so. In fact, I fully understand. If this writer is honest, there are plenty of sins in his own life we all do not know about. Let’s face it. We all are prone to hide those things that we feel ashamed of. It is funny how people want others to confess everything while they can keep their sins secret.

I choose to believe that God is doing a work in Josh by exposing these things for Josh’s sake, not ours. Quite frankly, I would prefer not to have known. It is none of my business. Josh Duggar does not owe me an explanation or confession. I am sad for him, and I am hopeful that this will lead him to whatever it is God is trying to accomplish in his life. Who am I, or who are any of us, to think we have the right to know another’s sins. That is the epitome of sinful pride.

Yes, people will pile onto Josh, but not to hurt him. They will do it to hurt the name of Christ. Do not tell me that Josh hurt the name of Christ. Christ can take care of His name. He has been associating Himself with some pretty despicable sinners for a mighty long time, and He is fine. I think people who say that are more worried about how it makes them look as a Christian than how it affects Christ’s name. I’ll tell you how it makes us look. It makes us look like a sinner who refuses to condemn another sinner. Well, that is unless we do condemn him, and then that is what repels the world. Forgiveness is our greatest testimony of His grace.

I realize that Josh has made some sinful choices, but I am not going to condemn him because all of us have made our own bad choices. So, Josh, I love you Brother. I am pulling for you. God is not finished with you. In fact, He is just perfecting you for His purpose.
