AURORAS LOVE EQUINOXES: At this time of year, even a gentle gust of solar wind can spark auroras.
on Sept. 25th a stream of solar wind flowing from a minor coronal hole reached Earth sparking Brilliant Auroral Displays at high latitudes. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for Northern Lights.
Minor (G1) geomagnetic storm conditions were observed at 25/0559 UTC and a G1 warning remains in effect until 25/0900 UTC. This elevated geomagnetic activity is due to a sustained period of southward interplanetary magnetic field.
Region 2597 developed new intermediate spots while undergoing consolidation and dissipation in its trailer spots. The other spotted regions on the solar disk were in gradual decay.
No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery. Solar activity is expected to be very low, with a chance for C-class flares throughout the forecast period (25-27 Sep).
