The dedicated professionals, also including maids, cooks, florists, doormen and engineers, have seen an intimate side to past and present US Presidents and First Ladies that is hidden from the public eye.
They reportedly witnessed Bill Clinton and intern Monica Lewinsky cavorting for years before their affair hit the headlines, and heard Mr Clinton’s wife, Hillary, ‘clock him with a book’ during the scandal.
They also saw Nancy Reagan rule the mansion with an iron fist, often berating her husband, Ronald – and some even walked in on John F Kennedy swimming naked with his secretaries, it is reported.
And in recent years, employees have apparently witnessed President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle dancing intimately to Mary J Blige’s hit, Real Love, with Mrs Obama dressed in sweats.
The incredible revelations have been disclosed in political journalist Kate Andersen Brower’s new book, The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House, to be published on Tuesday.
