What is an Indigo? The color corresponds with the color for the highest chakra point and the elevated state of being that comes from existing from this chakra. The term Indigo Children was originated by Nancy Ann Tappe who studied the human auric field, otherwise known as the electromagnetic field, surrounding every living thing.
Through aura colorization Nancy came up with a way to psychologically profile people. She observed that some 80 percent of the children born after 1980 had a new deep blue colored auric field. She called this new color indigo. Psychologists correspondingly noticed what was considered to be a large influx of young children with abnormally high functioning traits during the period and Indigos became known as high functioning people. Perhaps it might be more accurate to say that Indigos are not low functioning.
Wikipedia classifies the Indigo idea as a “pseudoscientific new age concept” straight out of the 1970s hippie mentality. Just because a subject remains outside the scope of our observational field does not negate it. We do have energy fields as living beings which mostly we cannot detect. Just because someone makes observations on auras or something else beyond contemporary comprehension does not mean it’s ‘pseudoscientific new age” quackamagook.
In fact it is my belief that there have always been Indigos. And just like every other minority, that is group made to have minimal power among oligarchies, they too have been traditionally relegated to the sideline and hidden from center stage history. This is hardly farfetched when we look at how the influences of women, those with melanin and homosexuals have been downplayed and hidden for example.
It is my opinion there have always been Indigos, only now people are open enough and sophisticated enough to understand and accept the “the pseudoscientific new age concept” die to their own experiences rather than what they’re told. Indigos were higher functioning than their peers and some had supernatural qualities occasionally, but I believe there have always been Indigos and people can always develop higher functioning and thus apparent supernatural abilities. Just as with everything we are born with some inherent level of skill, a certain flavor of karma, and then through practice we can develop our potential and awaken our dormancy. There have always been Indigos. Indigos go against the grain because they’re old souls, because they’re more concerned with the flow of intangible emotions and thoughts rather than the currency of the tangible status quo.
The more materialistic people are the less likely they are to be Indigos. The more rebellious people are the more likely they are to be Indigos. And often enough the more counter their course compared to the majority of everybody else’s the more likely they are Indigos. There are many differences among Indigos but certainly they all share some of the same qualities, higher functioning compassionate leniency. I always look for those that do not fall in line and always put individuals before institutions. There are many different Indigos who function in many different ways.
Race, religion and nationality are no qualification for being Indigo, in fact Indigos rarely consider these classifications when considering themselves and others. Indigos consider the qualities of heart and mind. Indigos likely use poetry or paintings to communicate but Indigos however they operate are seeking to elevate individuals around them. Indigos are intuitive, peaceful warriors.
To Indigos the age old poetic construct that debates the importance of where you’re from and where you’re at in relation to your character is not nuanced enough. To an Indigo it’s not about where you’re from or where you’re at that defines you, it’s about what you left behind to get here right now.
Indigos, just like the rest of humanity, are sometimes jibed one way or another, their ships blown off course, so they don’t really come into themselves, finding their way back on course until late in life. And surely in the past where more people were swing swords around more often and violence was more common and trauma more frequent less Indigos and less individuals in total actualized themselves in individuation. Sometimes things happen today to Indigos and others, so that they actually stop being themselves only to later find their true nature after being seemingly being lost at sea.
Those who like to promote the idea that Indigos are simply some high headed hippie kids and go about using the term “pseudoscientific new age concept” like to claim that Indigos only started coming here or more accurately being identified here because of new age jargon infiltration. In fact Indigos have always been here and Indigos have always been trying to uplift humanity from the dregs of war and oligarchical collectivism, the fascism of greedy capitalization.
There are four types of information. There are known knowns, the information we know we know. There are known unknowns, the information we know we don’t know. There are unknown unknowns, the information we don’t realize we don’t know. And then there are unknown knowns. The unknown knowns are the most important and at the same time most elusive to understand type of information. Unknown knowns are the instincts we act upon, the intuition which unfolds and the dichotomously the secrets that others hold. The fourth type of information, the unknown knowns, certainly lead to answers concerning the most immense questions and it is in this subject matter where Indigos interests reside. Indigos delve into the fourth type and the deepest aspect of information. They thrive in it and submerge themselves, whereas most people don’t even consider it. That’s why Indigos are poets, and painters and meditators and inventors.
