Microsoft  is facing a nightmare scenario and will they be able to survive the punishment being dealt to them on so many fronts? Microsofts future is looking very bleak according to the below article from Business Insider. Many businesses are moving away from the PC to smartphones for their work. In fact, Tablets And Smartphones Are Killing The PC Industry.

Business Insider:

Almost one year ago today, we laid out the nightmare scenario for Microsoft that could lead to its business collapsing.

After laying it all out, we concluded, “Fortunately for Microsoft, none of this is going to happen.”

We were wrong.

A lot changed in the last year.

Microsoft’s nightmare scenario is actually starting to take hold. We’re revisiting our slideshow from last year to see how things have played out.

Each of the slides that follows has one piece of the nightmare scenario for Microsoft. In the body of the slide, we explain where Microsoft stands in comparison to that hypothetical situation.

1. The iPad eats the consumer PC market.

This is happening right now. In the third quarter of 2012, PC sales were down 8 percent on a year-over-year basis worldwide. In the U.S., sales were down 14 percent. A big chunk of the decline can be attributed to the rise of the iPad. Apple sold 14 million iPads last quarter, which is more than the top PC maker, Lenovo, which shipped 13.7 million PCs. Throw in Apple’s 4.9 million Macs, and it’s the top computer maker by a mile.

As the personal computer market goes …

  • Ahhh, haa, haaa…”I’m a PC”….aaahhhh, haaa…. Stodgy, old white guys…!

  • Lets see I will give ALL my privacy away to one company, a phone company, settle for a box of Crayons, and think I will do all my private business on a web based app so the PTB can further steel from us while pretending to be helpful…

It is not in the interest, of any Corporation to improve anything they sell, unless forced to…
    your all nuts.

the only thing that WILL happen is : YOU WILL PAY 10 times MORE, FOR LESS

  • MG

You can’t do office work with a touch screen computer. OS 8, doa…

    • This is an excellent point. I wouldn’t be able to do my job at all on a tablet, my industry wouldn’t be equipped for that for at least another decade, if not more.

  • So the PC is dead, I would beat that most of the comments are made from that Dead PC.

  • It will never happen, there are too many hardcore pc gamers out there. The tablets just can’t run these top notch games.

  • Good thing I am a Debian user then ;)

  • I’ve been in the IT world for about 30yrs. I think the “PC” will still be a player in the business world. As for Micro$oft, yes it will die a slow death. Windows 8 o/s should have been only for smart phones and tablets. terrible o/s for the desktop and laptop. I have all of the new devices and i alway use my iMac and my Linux desktops. Linux is the way to go btw …

    • I gots to use Microsoft.

The only game I ever wanna play is FlightSimX.

  • RIM will sell 2 billion bb10 smart phones in 2013 2014!

  • The Windows Phone OS gets high marks (I prefer mine well over Android and iOS), and I rather enjoy Microsoft’s SYNC system in my Ford. Microsoft doesn’t appear to be simply resting on their laurels.

    • It took them 6 years to finally show up to the dance. The homecoming king and queen have already been announced and it isnt Microsoft.

  • I am not surprised nor do I feel sad Microsoft days are numbered. This must be a lesson for other corporation who assume they are rich, powerful and so indestructible.

Just try downloading Window 8 and see how difficult it is to install this “Stupid” software. I have gone off windows and have been using iMac for almost 3 years. I wish I had done this a long time ago insted of wasting money getting rid of virus and also recover some files.

If you are thinking of buying computer, please think carefully. Some PC addicts do not see your point but smartphone technology will certainly kill the geese that laid golden eggs.

  • Yea the mac gaming market is going to take off like…. I couldnt finish typing that sentence with out pissing myself    more fear mongering from BfrItsNws.com this why my sick ass keeps coming back here
