Tomorrow, June 8, marks the 48th anniversary of the Israeli attack on the defenseless communications ship USS Liberty, floating in international waters on a sunny summer day. Also, 172 men were injured after the attack by Israeli jets, helicopters and torpedo boats when they were machine-gunned, torpedoed, napalmed and bombed. For hours.
Israel was attempting to sink the Liberty to implicate Egypt and draw the United State into the Six Days War, fighting for Israel. As usual.
Nobody has ever been brought to justice.

The USA had planned to nuke Cairo in response. this would have given the Israelis carte blanche in the Middle East.The “Liberty” was saved by the arrival of a Russian warship. All American ships were ordered to stand down as were the air force. The Russians saved the day and they have been trying to get even with her ever since.
