This past Thursday, New Kids on the Block made their way to Dallas for their Main Event tour. They also brought along two very special guests with them, TLC and Nelly. Truth be told, I only went to the concert to see TLC and Nelly. I couldn’t name an NKOTB song if I tried. But props to them for being in the music industry for over 25 years, with no new music and still be able to sell out large venues. Check out the video for highlights of all three acts. Here’s what I thought of the entire show….
Round 1
Nelly was the first act up, with a complete set of about 35 minutes. He blazed through some of his biggest hits, including “Country Grammar”, “Hot In Herre”, “Dilemma” and “Air Force Ones”. I don’t think anyone could argue his undeniable high energy throughout his entire set. Sporting sweatpants and a hoodie, he kept the wardrobe piece of his show very simple. There weren’t fireworks, slick video projections or other special effects. The closest Nelly got to that were his dancers, which included an all female group with ample bottoms (much of which was exposed outside of their shorts).
