It is the last thing the residents of Chongqing would have expected to see.

But the Yangtze river, which runs through the city in south-western China, turned a bright shade of orange-red yesterday.

The waterway where the Yangtze met the Jialin River provided a fascinating contrast as the red started to filter into the other river

  • im thinking maybe they want ww3

  • The official explanation of the blood red color is sand floating into the river from erosion upstream. One problem – sand doesn’t float very far, if at all…

    • Silt doesn’t mean sand.
Silt is very small, fine dirt.

      • I am aware of what silt is – but that’s not what they said. In any case have you or anyone ever seen a blood-red silt deposit? Or even seen a photo of a blood-red silt deposit or any kind of blood-red soil because I sure haven’t. If you have please post a link to the photos.

  • Maybe it’s an Omen.

  • It’s Lord RayEl people… I know you don’t want to hear that, but he is fulfilling all of the biblical prophecies in a row… He is the Messiah, and the waters turning red is right out of the Book of Revelations.

  • The sad part is people still think the Bible is a joke… it only gets worse, this is the beginning of sorrows… repent because Christ is soon to return

  • I have traveled in China. It is the most polluted place I have ever seen. You can taste the air and you dare not drink the water even in the most modern city. I stayed in the same Hotel President Nixon stayed in in the 70′s abd was told not to brush with the water. Urban areas are like living at the end of a pipe that empties chemical waste into the worst Western Industrial site you have ever seen. It is a world of uncontroled industrial abuse. Read the story again from that perspective and RED water is the least of your worries.

  • Don’t tell me that the Chinese are to stupid to immediately analyze the Water in a Lab?
They are further ahead than the U.S.A. which now has fallen behind.
In the early 50′s I saw the River Rhine displaying various Colours while the Fish were dying.
Bayer was the Culprit. From what I understand this no longer happens due to proper Gov. intervention and fines and the Fish stock has been replenished.

  • That would be creepy looking

  • Any sign of dead fish?

    Cowboy

  • The bible was based on earlier stories that have been rehashed since forever! I’m sorry that you follow a book of lies, just because lots of nutjobs follow blindly doesn’t mean its true. God doesn’t write books, God doesn’t ask you to cut off your foreskin, God doesn’t kill for you, God doesn’t need a man to spill blood as sacrifice for your karmic debt, God doesn’t hate gay people or atheists or science. God did not have a baby with Mary or anyone. God makes sense, the bible does not.

  • The bible clearly says that all the rivers will turn to blood, not blood colored. Now im a very strong beliver in the good lord but there is a explanation right there. The bible clearly said all the fish and sea life would die due to the blood. Its not 100% blood its 100% water with pollution in it.

  • PMSL there are some really religious nutters on here

    • Well you will be judged for your belives not us.

  • Maybe the illuminati went down there to wash their hands…

  • To Anonymous, yes the pollution is very bad. In fact it is so bad they cant grow anything in their own soil there anymore. When we build a sub-divison here in the US they actually buy the topsoil from us. They have been doing it for years.

The BS thing is they send it back here and sell it in bags of cheap topsoil/fill at Wal-Mart for $1.00 after it’s contaminated. I tried to grow sunflowers in it. They came out looking like little sunflower monsters. I’m serious.

  • Hey folks
This IS NOT THE FIRST RIVER TO RUN RED RECENTLY

    There was one in Europe

  • it was dye dumped in the river seen proof
