(Before It's News)

This touching photo of a migrant worker’s daughter was erased by censors monitoring Sina Weibo, China’s version of Twitter. The caption simply said: “Waiting for you to come home.”

She represents millions of “left-behind children” in rural parts of the country whose parents go to find work in cities instead of farming which only produces a meager income.

Usually these children get brought up by a grandparent, and are vulnerable to being kidnapped, and sexual assault.

In China, there are estimated to be over 60 million such children living apart from their parents.

Due to the hukou registration system introduced by the ruling Communist Party, the children can only be schooled locally, and therefore cannot be with their parents.
