The Chinese government makes no secret of its use of organs from non-willing inmates on death row, but did you know it’s secretly been getting organs from living victims too, and the majority of them are prisoners of conscience?

The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) just released the results of its latest survey which proves that many thousands of practitioners of this meditation practice have been murdered for their organs. Here’s a quick summary:

  • The practices of medical institutions in China’s 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, and 4 municipalities were analyzed.
  •
  • At least 765 non-military medical institutes across China have or are actively engaged in the extraction and sale of organs from living practitioners of the Falun Gong spiritual movement.
  •
  • 100 military hospitals are involved as well.
  •
  • WOIPFG released the names of 7,402 medical practitioners believed to have been involved in the harvesting of organs from the living prisoners of conscience.
  •
  • Since 1999, these facilities have performed at least 176,267 kidney transplants, 40,170 liver transplants, 1,928 heart transplants, and 137,294 cornea transplants.

Falun Gong Human Rights spokesperson Dr. Chen Shizhong said the data is actually much lower than the real number of transplants since they could only count what was reported on the websites of the hospitals and in medical journals.

The institutes were identified based on organ transplant data anomalies that took place there. These hospitals generally claimed to have conducted enormous numbers of transplants in a short time for as many as 24 different types of transplants.

What’s worse is that many of the staff were not even qualified to perform transplants, and were from smaller facilities like children’s hospitals, forensic medicine hospitals, and county clinics.

Chen said: “Many of those doctors who conducted organ transplants were not professionally trained, especially those in the small county hospitals. Many of them were not qualified.

As so many transplant cases were performed, the survival rates were far below international standards…
