When travelers from China visit tourist attractions in other countries, if they’re lucky, they will stumble across something you can’t see in China: information booths that explain the true facts about Falun Gong and the persecution.
Adherents of Falun Gong, a meditation discipline for improving the body and mind, can be found in countries throughout the world and represent many races and nationalities. They do peaceful exercises and strive to live according to Falun Gong’s principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.
However, you won’t hear this in the Chinese Communist Party’s state-controlled media. Since the Party began persecuting and killing Falun Gong adherents in 1999, many Chinese citizens have been unable to get their hands on any news about Falun Gong except the Party’s slanderous and baseless propaganda.
There are ways around this, though. One way is to visit overseas tourist destinations. No matter what country they’re in, Falun Gong practitioners are eager to share the facts with anyone who stops by their information booths.
These practitioners are all volunteers. Their goals are to raise global awareness of the deadly persecution, help stop the persecution, and give Chinese citizens an opportunity to quit the Party. So far, over 200 million Chinese have renounced the Party and its affiliated organizations, a gesture that shows they don’t support the Party’s human rights crimes.
There are other ways for the real news to trickle into China. One way is to use technology to get around the Internet firewall and access foreign websites.
Another way is for Falun Gong practitioners to spread the facts by word of mouth. They have persisted in doing this for nearly 16 years, often at great risk to their lives, knowing that the day everyone knows the truth about Falun Gong will be the day the persecution ends.
