Pentecost: The Language of Love
Christ has spoken boldly the blessed language of love
Bringing hope, faith freshly awoken, by God’s Holy Dove
Tongues of holy fire touched human flesh, transforming
Sweet purifying winds blew away doubt, strengthening
The disciples too spoke, all understood what they said
The language of love, expressed in the breaking of bread
A language recognised in each country and in every nation
Words that affirm, Christ’s body in a blest communication
Over time becoming fluent, love sows lasting, fruitful seeds
All who hear are encouraged to demonstrate good deeds
A universal language, one that proclaims God’s good news
To hear it spoken is to be saturated by God’s healing dews
Spoken in truth; this love brings new life to those who hear
Spoken in charity; this love will remove hate, dread and fear
Spoken in wisdom; this love will guide all people in their life
Spoken in power; this love will remove useless, painful strife
Where the charity of the revelation of love is boldly spoken
Christianity thrives, flourishes, for faith will be freshly awoken
