Campaign for a “Worker Bill of Rights” Puts ALEC in Spokane’s Crosshairs. Residents of Spokane, Washington, will vote on November 3, on what community activists have termed a “Worker Bill of Rights.” The initiative offers workers the right to a family wage for those employed by large companies, equal pay for equal work and protections against wrongful termination.

 

Sick Apopka farmworkers hope for major study of their illnesses. Geraldean Matthew is among a group of former Apopka farmworkers who believe that the daily exposure to the pesticides led them and their children to develop a variety of serious illnesses, including lupus and chronic kidney disease.
