On his May 10, 2016 opening monologue, Conan O’Brian took aim at Evangelical Christians. “Political analysts say the rise of Donald Trump has made Evangelical Christians feel ‘abandoned.’ Evangelical Christians said, ‘We’ve been so depressed, it’s hard to get up the energy to hate gays.’” Then Conan and his side kick adlibbed on all the energy it must take to hate gays.
“The demonization continues of Christians who dare oppose the deconstruction of God’s design for human sexuality and the normalization of sinful lifestyles,” said Dr. Gary Cass of DefendChristians.org. “Evangelicals believe Christ can transform and deliver people in any sinful behavior. Now if we dare to obey Christ’s commands to declare His gracious call to repent and trust on Him for the forgiveness of sin, we are called haters. If we truly hated we would keep silent, avoid the vitriol of late night TV comics and let people perish in their sin, but that would be the most hateful thing imaginable.”
