Stable Simplicity

Glory to God, who has revealed the Light

Praise to God, who is our greatest delight

Born in poverty, in the stable simplicity

The Word taken flesh, drenched in humility

Kissing the dusty earth, the eternal deity,

touching the hearts of finite, human fragility.

Kings, bowed before him, shepherds, in awe,

huddled in trembling wonder, by the stable door

Angels, sent from heaven, heralded his arrival

Mary, his blessed mother, the very first disciple

Joseph, all shed grateful tears of joyful admiration

We, are taken up in the sweet occupation of adoration.
