According to a recent poll, 57% of Americans actually support President Trump’s temporary ban on folks coming into the USA from 7 ‘terrorist haven’ countries while only 33% oppose it. Here’s the story from Rasmussen Reports:
Most voters approve of President Trump’s temporary halt to refugees and visitors from several Middle Eastern and African countries until the government can do a better job of keeping out individuals who are terrorist threats.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 57% of Likely U.S. Voters favor a temporary ban on refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen until the federal government approves its ability to screen out potential terrorists from coming here. Thirty-three percent (33%) are opposed, while 10% are undecided. …
Response: Wow! 57% actually support the temp ban and only 33% oppose it?
If you go by recent media reports the whole country is against it. Now you can see how the press was surprised by Trump’s win- they only pay attention to the liberal coasts and ignore the majority who live in ‘fly over’ country.
This whole issue is being distorted by the major media. I have seen one article after another claiming that this is a ‘ban on Muslims.’ Fact is there are some Christians trying to get out of several of these countries also. So it is not exclusively effecting Muslims. It is a temporary ban on just 7 countries, not all Muslim majority lands. Also it is temporary until a better policy for vetting folks coming in from those nations can be put in place.
The Obama administration pretty much ignored the thousands of Christian refugees trying to get out of Syria and Iraq, President Trump indicated when he signed this temp. ban that it was his intention to put new policies into place that would give priority to Christian immigrants who are actually being treated far worse under ISIS than any of the Muslims. *Top
