Why I’m Not a Politician

(Before It's News)

Anything related to religion in my life is funneled through all my conversations I have with my therapist/friend whom I have known for the past 25+ years.  This would include any discussions as to whether I would ever enter into in the political arena of ANY kind.

I have dabbled with the idea of becoming a politician, but the fact is, I can’t ask one single person to take a Human Life if indeed there are circumstances that would demand that I do so.  I can’t ask one person to intentionally take a Human Life regardless of any reason to do so.  This decision has weighed heavy on mind knowing that there are times when the taking of Human Life almost becomes necessary to save the countless lives of others.  I wouldn’t be responsible to God for asking anyone to intentionally take a Human Life, but such a decision would weigh heavily on my conscience.  I have repeatedly said that it’s always the person who pulls the trigger or pushes a button that God will hold accountable.  Those who give commands often are away from where the battles take place.  It’s the person who acts on such orders that I say God will hold accountable.

I have mixed emotions about president Trump ordering the release of missiles on airfields in Syria.  However, what I have been saying is that politicians have to protect the interests of their countries in addition to serving those who elected them into office in the first place.  But dictators aren’t elected and therefore, they are really accountable to no one other their own self-interests.  This is why there will always be conflicts between democratic nations and dictatorships.  Because I believe in a democracy, I won’t agree with what dictators and unelected leaders of countries decide to do.  This is why there will always be warfare and why there always have been wars.

When ANY person in national leadership of ANY nation decides to act on his or her own interests there will be leaders of other countries that will disagree with the reasons for war.  This is true of nations that disagree with President Trump’s decision to launch a missile attack on Syria last night.  I am not sure where such actions will lead us right now, but politicians will  demonstrate a show of strength not only to other nations, but to the people who put those leaders in power.   The US for almost 200 years has been a nation that at least believes it is a nation that is the moral conscience of the world.  But no matter what I believe or what I say, there will NEVER be an end to warfare.  More than 400,000 people have been murdered in Syria since this leadership there has taken power.  As far as the US is concerned this is and has been morally apprehensible.

If you are concerned about the number of people who die under such circumstances, let me say that God IS a just God.  There is NEVER a reason for ANY person to EVER take the life of another, but at the same time not all people will accept this thinking.  So, I say that God has a place for ALL victims of warfare.  If we knew what heaven was like, we would be falling all over ourselves trying to get in.  Therefore, the dead is always better off than the living.  And it is true as well, that God has reserved a place for those who take innocent life.  That place is called hell; and it is as real of a place as heaven is real for victims.  God is a JUST God!  Do NOT forget this.  And for those who say they are people of Peace, we live in Peace because this is what we KNOW.  Those who don’ t have such Peace will never find it if they aren’t worthy of it.  This is why there will always be wars and rumors of wars.
