'Fugitive Of The Week' Arrested in Florida After Two Year Hunt

Concord, NH – “Fugitive of the Week,” Robert Maunsell, 32, was arrested this afternoon in Plant City, FL after a two year search.
Maunsell had been wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant issued on January 8, 2014 by the Rockingham County Superior Court for his failure to appear for a previously imposed sentence for a 2010 conviction on a charge of second degree assault of a child.
Maunsell was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week,” on February 6, 2014. Over the past two years, investigators had made every effort to locate Mr. Maunsell. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in New Hampshire developed information that Maunsell was likely living in Florida near several family members just outside of Tampa. The US Marshals Fugitive Task Force from NH contacted their counterparts with the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force and requested their assistance in apprehending Maunsell.
This afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Florida, were able to Maunsell in an RV off of Dormany Loop, Plant City (FL), he was arrested without incident. Mr. Maunsell will be charged as a fugitive from justice based on the outstanding Rockingham County, NH warrant. Maunsell will be held without bail at the Hillsborough County Jail (FL), pending his return to NH and then will begin serving his sentence for assaulting a child.
This arrest comes after a two year search in several states for and after tireless efforts by Investigators from several agencies throughout NH, ME, and Florida.
The “Fugitive of the Week” program is aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, The Manchester Ink Link and prominently featured on the internet. This program has been a remarkably successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. This case received a lot of additional media coverage throughout New England once the reward was announced.
U.S. Marshal, David Cargill, Jr., said “The Marshals Service never gives up on the search for a fugitive, this is evident by Maunsell’s arrest after a two year search.” Cargill continued, “I am very proud of all of the investigators that were involved for their persistence and desire to bring Maunsell to justice.”
Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 6,216 arrests (Updated as of 12/24/2015). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses.
