Albuquerque, NM – The United States Marshal Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) Task Force officers joined forces with Albuquerque Police Department (APD) Detectives and arrested fugitive Darrius Valles who is a suspect in the death of Jerry Jennings on January 15, 2016.
Albuquerque Police Department Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Valles on January 16, 2016 and began working with the United States Marshals Service SWIFT Task force to locate Valles. After a month of intense investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Albuquerque Police Department Gang Unit, Darrius Valles was successfully apprehended in San Bernardino, California. Valles will be extradited back to New Mexico where he will be turned over to APD Homicide Detectives.
In addition to his arrest, and due to the seriousness of the crimes committed by Valles, The Marshals Service for the District of New Mexico added Valles to the New Mexico’s Most Wanted list. The United States Marshals Service focuses on career criminals with a history of violence and weapon convictions. The violent cases include but are not limited to: charges or convictions for murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, assault, battery, sexual assault, firearms offenses, arson, child molestation, abduction, and other serious crimes against persons. The Marshals Service also endeavors other cases such as major drug kingpin cases, to include fugitives adopted by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), and fugitives identified as members or associates of a violent gang or criminal organization. The Marshals Service through its Task Force is committed to making communities safer and pursuing dangerous criminals.
“As well as highly effective and skilled investigators, the Marshals Service unequivocally is nationally and internationally renowned in pursuing those fugitives that have absconded justice. In this apprehension, the uniqueness of the vast network of investigation was at the forefront that led to the arrest of a dangerous and violent fugitive and despite evading arrest by crossing several states proved to be futile; this fugitive is incarcerated an no longer a danger to our communities,” stated U.S. Marshal Conrad E. Candelaria, District of New Mexico.
