(Before It's News)

Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak - Homemade Bath Salts Even though winter is milder here in Southern California than in a lot of places, it still takes a toll on my skin. Believe it or not, we do turn on the heater every now and then especially in the chilly evenings. With spring around the corner, it’s time to start thinking or dreaming about shorts, flip flops and tank tops.

Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak - Homemade Bath SaltsSince we’re closing out February soon, now is the perfect time to start getting your skin ready for warm weather clothes.

Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak - Homemade Bath SaltsI made a batch of this Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak to help scrub off some of that dry winter skin. This is super easy to make and since it’s all dry ingredients, it will keep forever.

Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak - Homemade Bath SaltsTo make a batch, all you need is oatmeal, Epsom salts, lavender and corn starch. I used this recipe as a starting point and altered it slightly.

  • 1/2 cup Epsom Salts
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 2 Tablespoons corn starch
  • Dried lavender

Grind the oatmeal in a food processor, blender or coffee grinder (great tip to use a coffee grinder for small amounts of grinding). Combine the oatmeal, epsom salts and cornstarch. Add pinches of lavender and stir gently.

Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak - Homemade Bath SaltsThis bath soak would make a great gift. So while you’re making up a batch for yourself, make extra to package up and give away. You can package it in small mason jars or use little bits of fabric like I did.

Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak - Homemade Bath SaltsI placed about a 1/4 cup of the bath soak in the middle of the fabric and simply tied it together with a piece of string. A vintage button dresses up the package and a simple homemade tag finishes it off.

Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak - Homemade Bath SaltsYes, spring is around the corner but it’s still feeling very wintery for most of us. A nice hot soak with some Oatmeal Lavender Salts would feel wonderful. Are you as excited for spring as I am?
