Popocatepel volcano, Mexico
A few small deep low-frequency earthquakes continue beneath Mammoth Mountain (CA) and a dwindling number of small shallow earthquakes affect the South Moat of nearby Long Valley Caldera. (station MRD)
Emissions of gas and some ash occur at a diminished average rate of about one and half per hour during the past 24 hours at Popocatepetl (Mexico). Seismicity at the volcano is low.
Access to Guatemalan seismograms is still not possible, likely due to the big earthquake there this past week.
Low-level volcanic tremor and small earthquakes (otherwise normal day to day activity) affect San Miguel volcano (El Salvador) and Masaya, San Cristobal, Concepcion and Telica volcanoes (Nicaragua).
Magnitudes of volcano-tectonic earthquakes affecting Nevado Del Ruiz volcano (Colombia) have diminished markedly, but they continue to occur frequently at the volcano. (station OLLV)
In New Zealand, small earthquakes continue to rattle Ruapehu and Tongariro volcanoes, while offshore, continuous volcanic tremor plagues White Island volcano.
Recent satellite imagery reveals a prominent SO2 plume eminating from Popocatepetl volcano, and a lesser plume over Manam volcano (New Guinea).
