This (almost) daily post intends to follow up the activity changes of volcanoes all over the world.
This post is written by geologist Richard Wilson who specializes in Volcano seismicity and Armand Vervaeck. Please feel free to tell us about new or changed activity if we haven’t written about it. -

January 13, 2013 volcano activity

Volcanic tremor continues a slow decline at Plosky Tolbachik (Kamchatka Peninisula).

Exhalations continue to occur at an average rate of less than once per hour at Popocatepetl volcano (Mexico).
Seismicity is increasing at Colima volcano once again.  Two explosions are visible in the seismic data today.

POpocatepetl January 13 2013

Seismicity continues to decline at Fuego volcano (Guatemala) (station FG3) and at Santa Maria volcano (station STG6).  The rate and amplitude of volcanic earthquakes has also dropped-off dramatically at Pacaya volcano (statoin PCG) overnight.

Volcanic tremor has given-way to numerous volcanic earthquakes ata San Cristobal volcano (Nicaragua) (station CRIN) the past few days.  Volcanic tremor continues its slow decline at nearby Masaya volcano (station MASN), while volcanic earthquakes are diminishing at Concepcion volcano (station CONN).

Numerous low-magnitude volcanic earthquakes continue to affect Nevado Del Ruiz volcano (Colombia) (station OLLZ) today, while pulses of volcanic (co-eruptive?) tremor punctuate an otherwise quiet seismic record at Galeras volcano (station ANGV).

Volcano information was unavailable from Ecuador and Chile today.

Small local earthquakes have become visible again on seismograms at Tongariro volcano (New Zealand).  Low-level volcanic tremor is visible on seismic records from Ruapehu volcano, and continuous volcanic tremor again dominates recordings from White Island volcano.

Recent satellite imagery shows eruptive plumes over Popocatepetl volcano, Reventador volcano (?) (Ecuador), Dukono or Soputan (?) volcano (Sangihe arc), and Manam volcano (New Guinea).

Below a KDEtna Timelapse video of some minor activity in Bocca Nuova of the Etna volcano, Sicily, Italy
