More narative wars fom the crony media: Obama administration thinks “sovierign citizens” are as bad or worse than ISIS
Are there nuts in the United States? Yes, for sure. Do some of these people tout a philosophy of personal sovereignty? I am positive that some do. Are these nuts serious threats to the country? I don’t think so.
What you have in the attached report from CNN is an effort to turn a narrative which has gotten out of the hands of the White House spinmiesters. The insanity (and I think that is an appropriate word) exhibited by ISIS has galvanized many in this country. Terrorism (for good or ill) is now a serious issue again for many American voters.
The thing is, that ISIS is a radical Islamist group makes Obama uncomfortable. The president refuses to acknowledge the fact that ISIS is a Muslim entity. That Islam is a fundamental component of ISIS’s identity. The group refers to itself as “The Islamic State” after all. It seems pretty obvious to me. But not apparently to our president who didn’t march in protest with the other leaders of the world in Paris after the Charlie Hedbo attacks, and who lectured people at the White House prayer breakfast recently on the atrocities committed in the name of Christ. Basically equating the actions of ISIS to past crimes committed in the name of the Church. Obama also suggested that perhaps Americans should get off of their “high horse” when it comes to religious atrocities.
No one’s perfect you see. So hey, get off your high horse.
There have been horrible things done in the name of Christianity. The Inquisition is the first which comes to mind which was flat out genocide. There have been many other crimes. Savagery does indeed transcend religion to some extent. But come on Mr. President.
Obama is allowing his politically correct worldview, honed at Harvard and Columbia to crowd out reality. What’s worse, the president seems to be making the argument that Americans, specifically Americans with constutionalist inclinations represent a threat to this county on par with or to an even greater degree than ISIS or similar Islamist groups.
What?
Who in this country is seriously afraid of people who believe that they are “sovereign citizens?” In the report the administration says that police are. I wonder about this.
Actually I don’t really buy that many in law enforcement are particularly concerned with these folks any more than they are concerned with other people on the fringes of society. (If you are in law enforcement and disagree please say so in the comments section.)
Why would this administration again be upping the rhetoric against the “Live Free or Die” crowd, particularly when we appear to have renewed (if to some degree self created) legitimate threats to the country from real terrorists?
Sadly I think it is because this president doesn’t really know who the good guys are. I think he fears the Live Free or Die crowd. But the country doesn’t. Some people may not like them. But fear? The American people are far more concerned (again for good or ill) with people who are prone to beheading infidels than with some guy flying a Gadsden Flag over his cabin who is prone to mouthing off at cops who pull him over for expired tags.
One of the reasons we focus on the crony media like we do is because the old/crony media do still hold considerable sway over a portion of the American public. The nexus between so called “mainstream media” and this White House has hurt this country. When the sort of blatant propagandizing we see here comes from the administration, particularly when it is attacking American citizens, we (and everyone who does what we do) has an obligation to highlight what is going on.

They’re carrying out sporadic terror attacks on police, have threatened attacks on government buildings and reject government authority.
A new intelligence assessment, circulated by the Department of Homeland Security this month and reviewed by CNN, focuses on the domestic terror threat from right-wing sovereign citizen extremists and comes as the Obama administration holds a White House conference to focus efforts to fight violent extremism.
Some federal and local law enforcement groups view the domestic terror threat from sovereign citizen groups as equal to — and in some cases greater than — the threat from foreign Islamic terror groups, such as ISIS, that garner more public attention.
