(Before It's News)

Please. This should be a non-issue for any Republican. Americorps? A works program? This should be gone in a blink of an eye. This shouldn’t even be a thought. Of course Americorps should be gone. Such a program is far beyond the proper role of government. But Mr. Good Ole’ Boy Haley Barbour, former head of the RNC and lobbyist extraordinaire wants to keep it around. No wonder government NEVER shrinks.

By the way one of the “benefits” this group of Republicans cite with regard to Americorps is that Americorps helps to facilitate “public-private partnerships.”

The term “public-private partnership” is always code for cronyism.

(From Politico)

A group of Republican donors and former elected officials is urging President Donald Trump not to cut funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service, which administers AmeriCorps, the public service work program for young people.

Former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour is among the signatories of the letter sent to Trump, dated Tuesday, making a case for continued support for AmeriCorps and other such programs.
