DEAR SLAVEY – AUGUST 28th EDITION
Dear Slavey…
I've read everything so far posted here on TDV. Thank you very much for helping to wake up readers. I would very much like to know more about student debt. I don't owe much but after taxes and expenses I don't have much. I’ve been driving in southern California without insurance for three years now. I sublet illegally and pay rent to the manager late sometimes. I got rid of credit cards over 7 years ago. I don't care about them. I have a big IRS bill my ex is settling and I work as an individual claiming 9 to 11 on every W4 I fill out.
My car is in my girlfriend’s name. I don't have even a library card. I do however have every hand tool for custom projects. I'm currently embarking on my own black market handyman custom design built business. I used to make a good living and have gone back to labor work. It's tough out there. I made the same wage in the 1980s as a young man that people clamor for today. It seems so possible to do work on my own and all I need is a little truck. It's funny that that's all I need because I used to take trips to Bermuda and Europe on my multiple platinum cards I had. Today I shop at the 99 cent store. I find it easier to relate to the working poor. They are real and loving with no complications of additional programming like much of white middle class America. I am an anarchist and I'm awake and grateful and in a state of grace.
So my other question to you is how is the black market doing in Los Angeles? Thanks for all the sound advice. If you need custom furniture made from mahogany with hand cut dove tails and mortise and tenon joints just let me know. I have a vision that there is a living to be made as an individual living under the radar. I guess I've been doing it the whole time and now I see there is a real way to do better. The government only exploits and corrupts so let's make a new society from the rubble that the mercantilists have created.

I can tell you’re having a really hard time, but you’re on the road to de-slaving yourself. Good for you! The government loves when we’re struggling because if we’re too busy trying to survive, they can pretty much do anything they want, and most of the slaveys won’t complain. But you’ve started down the path to freedom and prosperity, and I wish you all the best.
You brought up two really good topics I’ve wanted to write about: student debt and operating a business under the radar.
There are a few known ways to completely erase student loan debt legally and permanently. It’s a very complex and lengthy discussion, best left to the experts – and I’ve found one for you who really knows his stuff. He’s Chuck Stewart, and he has a website and book devoted to wiping out your student debt. His method doesn’t work for everyone, but I hope it’ll work for you. Check out his extensive experience with bankrupting student loan debt in the US at his website, www.BankruptYourStudentLoans.com, and if you decide to contact him, make sure you tell him Dear Slavey from TDV sent you.
Bartering is a great way to get what you need and to offer what others want in exchange without having to deal with the tax system and without having to collect those soon-to-be worthless pieces of fiat paper to pass back and forth. If you do what you're told by the State (DON'T) goods and services bartered are supposed to be assigned a value and declared on your taxes. But, Slaveys,as I’ve told you many times the first step in de-slaving yourself is to stop thinking you have to do what the authorities expect you to do. I’d encourage you to barter as much as possible – leave no paper trail, and start living like a free citizen of the world.
If you still need or want to deal in dollars sometimes, make sure the transaction is all cash and don’t issue any receipts for your work. Try to avoid depositing any of it into a bank account and stop throwing your money away in taxes to fund war and service the government’s massive debt. Get ready, Slaveys. As the US edges closer to economic collapse, they’re going to be looking for more tax revenue. Trading and selling privately allows you to stop working for the benefit of the US government and keep 100% of what you earn.

I found myself cheering as I read Jason’s letter…
Flying under the radar…Correctly treating the state and its proscriptions as nuisances to be avoided…Keeping as much of his money from their thieving hands as possible…
Sure, Jason is running a risk (driving without insurance which the government mandates for our own good — gasp!). But he is impressively embracing the agorist lifestyle. And he is unafraid, even downright joyful about it.
Personally, I wasn’t as badass as Jason. When I felt the heat, I buggered off out of the country, something the Internet nature of my current profession allowed me to do. In any case, I quite naturally agree with Slavey. Don’t do what the state tells you. Even if you are living in the belly of the state beast. We’re not saying take up arms against them (just the opposite in fact, we suggest you avoid violent confrontation at all costs). But understand that their system is designed from top to bottom to keep you poor, dependent, and hopeless. So don’t play into any more than you absolutely have to.
It’s perverse because a free, forward-looking, and optimistic society is what builds the sort of wealth that governments love to parasitize. The freer the society, the more property rights are respected and the less state theft there is, the more progress and abundance there is. Even relatively prosperous societies of the distant past were still largely slave states that relied on conquest and which rested on the notion that rulers truly owned those they ruled. Those societies failed to advance beyond a certain level of material comfort because of that.
It wasn’t until the world saw much freer societies that progress really started to take off and mankind really started bending his physical environment into forms that provided levels of comfort and convenience out of a science fiction fantasy novel. Don’t think such progress is automatic, dear reader. Or worse don’t think progress comes about because the government steals your money to fund NASA. Such progress is the result of liberty, incentive and the ability to accumulate capital for reinvestment in the continuing process of value addition. This all adds up to the ongoing advancement we in the relatively capitalist era now take for granted.
Perhaps we all won’t take continuing advancement for granted anymore, however. Because it’s being bludgeoned to death before our eyes. The blunt instruments of the state are dashing happiness, comfort, and progress to bits. The state destroys these things because the state thwarts human freedom. And despite some cheery, shallow rhetoric from politicians, the state can’t help but bind its subjects in webs of compulsion, regulation, and taxation. The state can’t help but replace optimism and drive with dependence, depression and despair. Over time that's all that's left. And that’s where we are now. The most aware among us live in anticipation of a collapse so they can start over. Those of us who can flee to seek freedom and opportunity elsewhere are doing so. It’s good to see that those of us who can’t leave are still living their liberty as best they can and holding onto their hope.
