(Before It's News)

There are many regional flashpoints in the Middle East, but military
experts believe that the Syrian-Turkish border is the most volatile.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in November that, “The militarization of the Syrian-Turkish border is a dismal signal.”

At the moment, there is a low-level conflict on the Syrian-Turkish border. There have been clashes throughout the past year, often times stoked by the FSA, the NATO-backed Jihadist insurgency that is fighting Assad.

But if the United States government has anything to say about it this conflict will get much larger. Washington has deployed Patriot missiles and soldiers to the Turkish border to send a message to Syria that it is serious about its threat to overthrow its regime.

On the risk of a wider war on the Syrian-Turkish border:

“The risk is heightening almost by the day. What we see happening is an increased militarization certainly of the conflict between Syria and Turkey.” – Hillary Mann Leverett on Al Jazeera, unknown air date. Clip is below.
