August 4th, our next national day of action named “Prick The Bubble,” is fast approaching! The goal is to have summertime anti-corporate greed block parties at the homes of AT LEAST 10 CEOs nationwide, of some of the worst companies out there. UK Uncut did something similar around Memorial Day, so we’re taking the streets again to end the summer right.
In the meantime, we’re going to be posting daily tips to help make your action a little easier. US Uncut is merely an idea, and isn’t ran or funded by any outside organizations, so these actions will depend on you and your friends’ willingness to do something awesome with everyone else out there. We’ll do our best on this end to give you all the resources you need to make your action successful.
Tip #1: Recruit a high school drumline!
Every fun summertime block party needs music, right?
High school bands are in band camp right now, learning drill, learning their music, putting in countless hours of work upwards of 12 hours a day in the hot sun, getting yelled at by band directors and instructors. It’s tough work (I used to be a band kid, speaking from personal experience here) and a lot of the kids are happy to have any sort of recognition.
Order some pizzas ahead of time, and bribe band kids from your local high school with free pizza at the end of band camp one night. The drumline will be especially receptive to free pizza (also speaking from personal experience here). Ask them to reserve an hour of their time on Saturday, August 4th to play at your block party outside a CEO’s home! Make sure you talk to the band director face-to-face too, and ask if you can borrow his/her drumline for an hour on a Saturday. S/he will appreciate your asking.
As always, email [email protected] if you have any questions or daily tip suggestions!

US Uncut is a grassroots movement taking direct action against corporate tax cheats and unnecessary and unfair public service cuts across the U.S. Washington’s proposed budget for the coming year sends a clear message: The wrath of budget cuts will fall upon the shoulders of hard-working Americans. That’s unacceptable.
