In the 80s and 90s, squatters were a big part of the New York City scene, a subculture devoted to living in abandoned buildings and saying no to the Man's plan for them. Between Giuliani and Bloomberg, the squatters were all moved out. But guess what? the sham of prosperity is falling apart, and the squatters are moving back in.
