It seems Platte River Networks has removed a section from its website that advertised that it partnered with a “Data Destruction” firm.
The recently removed page was captured from a cached page by the Washington Free Beacon.
The data destruction firm is called Techno Rescue. It says that it uses a Department of Defense standardization method for data removal that guarantees “100 percent data destruction.”
Techno Rescue President Nidal Allis said in a 2009 newspaper interview that:
“Even if you run forensic data recovery, the disk will be clean.”
But the story just gets better and better. A 2010 Colorado I-News Network investigation found that Techno Rescue was “recycling” electronics by shipping them to Hong Kong, a practice that is frowned on for security reasons.
Another Techno Rescue employee is Iyad Allis. He is listed as the company’s regulatory contact in the EPA database. According to the Beacon:
“He was charged with selling illegal firearms and bank fraud in a 2008 FBI sting, according to court records. He ultimately pleaded guilty in 2009 to four counts of bank fraud.”
I’m still reporting from Washington. Good day.
