Factors behind fall: Fed fears, crude crumbles, Europe slides

Wall Street braced for a rocky session on Tuesday as stock-index futures sold off, taking their cue from European equity markets and a sharp drop in oil prices.
More negative news from China may also be adding to fears about slowing global economic growth that have been heightened after the Federal Reserve last week chose to stay pat on interest rates.
Dow futures fell 270 points, or 1.6%, to 16,187, while those for the S&P 500 dropped 34 points, or 1.7%, to 1,929. Nasdaq 100 futures slumped 87 points, or 2%, to 4,253.
